Since emerging from the Covid lockdown, Colchester’s music scene has been booming. With almost nightly open mic nights and venues catering for metal and alternative through to dance music, the city is alive with creatives.
Vix is at the heart of that scene.
Alongside her business partner, she runs successful open mic nights across the city and is looking forward to launching her first festival this year.
It’s a collective effort from musicians and performers through to venues and punters. Everyone is keen to push the scene forward and support each other as challenges such as the cost of living crisis starts to bite.
Against that background though, Vix is optimistic about what lies ahead. With the first album produced with her band, Vix and the Bleeding Hearts, recorded at the local Black Cactus studio and dropping in summer, there’s plenty to be optimistic about.
Colchester’s creative community has the talent and the drive to make its mark.
