Ricci has always been creative. From writing stories through to exploring the rich world of rap, creativity is in his DNA. However he was never very confident with his identity.
Periods facing mental health struggles, a late autism diagnosis and bouts of homelessness left him without a path and lacking real direction.
Now things are very different. Ricci is a poet, published author, father and husband. Through his poetry, he expresses the struggles he’s been through but also tries to motivate others to find passion in what they do.
His words are authentic, sometimes dark, but very often optimistic. He is truly a genuine artist and proud of his creative journey. Colchester is the backdrop to this journey; a city that he feels is occasionally thrown under a bus by people that don’t contribute to its creative culture.
Ricci has a deep connection to its thriving creative community. From established venues like the Arts Centre, through to cooperatives showcasing local talent and open mic nights, there are so many individuals really pushing to build that community. He can really feel the pulse of it.
