As a recently published author, Lisa draws huge inspiration from Colchester’s rich and varied history. Often found writing sat near the dungeons in Colchester Castle, it’s that history and authenticity that helped inspire her first book, Hexed.
It took 23 years to write, mainly because of Lisa’s hectic and eclectic creative outlets. From playing guitar and piano, through to life modelling and performing on stage, creativity is core to her identity.
And it’s Colchester’s creative community and support that has helped her realise her dreams of becoming a published author. With a recent book launch and signing at Red Lion Books on the high street, the local community is a real collective and source of inspiration.
Nurturing young minds is also a passion for Lisa and she’s looking forward to supporting the next generation of authors through creative writing classes.
The variety is what impresses Lisa the most. From open mic nights and poetry, through to plays and live music, the Colchester scene is vibrant and strong.
